What everybody should know about craft beers
Cheers!
Let us have a toast to the fantastically happy and flavorful cultural revolution that is sweeping the globe!
This great craft beer revolution liberates humans from limited flavors of commercial beers such as Bud, Miller Light, and Heineken. In liberated cities like San Diego, Vancouver, or Taipei, you can still opt for a Corona or Sapporo, but you can instead go for an IPA, a stout, a fruit beer made with 荔枝, 龍眼, watermelon, or a beer spiced with curry or cumin. Here are some craft beer notes on two paradise cities on earth, San Diego and Taipei. They are both craft beer heaven and where I spend most of my time.

- San Diego is the Craft Beer Capital of America. There are currently an estimated 200 craft beer breweries in the city, most with tasting rooms and many with restaurants. For example, Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens and Ballast Point Little Italy.
- Eating in a San Diego restaurant, more often than not, you will be able to pair your food with a good selection of craft beers on tap. I highly recommend that you head off to fun places like Little Italy, Gaslamp Quarter, or Liberty Station to taste for yourselves. Here is me at Slaters5050 munching on a hamburger with a flight of four beers: a Societe IPA, a pink guava Berliner Weisse, a coffee stout, and an Olde English barleywine. You have about 100 beers to choose from.
- The burgeoning Taipei craft beer industry is producing the most delicious and most smooth brews I have ever tasted. Are my taste buds biased because I am Taiwanese? Maybe, but I strongly doubt it. Here are three supporting 5-star reviews at yelp.com for a Taiwan brewery named 掌門精釀啤酒.
- Jesse (Chicago, IL): First and foremost, Zhang Men has the best beer I have ever had in Asia. Given that they have also won some international awards for a few beers, I don't think my opinion is very outlandish either. ... As a person who loves big IPAs (Dogfish Head 90-Minute IPA, Stone Ruination, Pliny the Elder), I thought their Double IPA was absolutely stunning.
- Steve (Chula Vista, CA): We are from San Diego and craft beer is every where. I would put Zhang Men up there with the top breweries in San Diego.
- Hank (San Diego, CA): This is a top notch brewery. High quality beers and comparable to a lot of the micro breweries in San Diego.
