Taiwan is heaven for foodies, but the world doesn't know
Most people will disagree that Taiwan is the best country for foodies. For an example, read CNN's recent article Which country has the best food? written by Zoe Li,. Of course, Taiwan is not among the best, in Zoe Li's opinion.
I will substantiate my claim that Taiwan is far and away the best country for foodies in followup posts, but here are some highlights:
- Wide spectrum of cost choices, from a 20-course dinner to a simple delicious meal that costs a dollar or two, or less. By the way, 20-course dinner does not need to be excessively expensive as one might expect.
- Ethnic diversity of restaurants constantly improving, but is already better than most countries.
- The richest array of specialty foods, such as 便當, 快炒, sukiyaki, tepanyaki, 香腸, 大腸, 掛包, 水煎包, 潤餠, 滷味, 黑輪, 炒米粉, 蚵仔煎, 肉粽, 燒邁, 肉員, 貢丸, 魚丸, 豬血, 魯肉飯, 火雞飯, 鴨肉, 鵝肉, 蛋捲, 蔥餅, 臭豆腐, 油條, 豆花, ..., You all know that boba and bao have become mainstream.
- The most delicious and affordable fruits, and so so many of them!
- Bakeries are world-class and exported. Think 85°C.
- Booming craft beer industry producing smooth and delicious brews that in my opinion can compete with the best I have had in US and Canada.
This blog is part of my effort to let the world know about Taiwan. Any person who likes food will want to experience Taiwan, and enjoy what it has to offer: heaven!
